Boquete Update: Help Is Coming Today
For U.S. Citizens
The U.S. Embassy is holding a town hall in Boquete today. It will also offer a small number of passport and notarial services by appointment.

If you are a U.S. citizen in Boquete, today is the day to pay attention. The U.S. Embassy will hold a town hall about the recent earthquake. It will also offer limited help with passports and notarial documents.
The town hall is open to U.S. citizens in the area. The passport and notarial services are only for people with a confirmed appointment.
What Is Happening Today?
Embassy staff will meet with U.S. citizens at the Boquete Library. They will talk about the recent earthquake in Panama and answer questions.
The town hall runs from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. You do not need a passport-service appointment to attend the town hall.
After the town hall, the Embassy will offer limited services. The service times are 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Which Services Are Available?
The Embassy says it will accept only certain services:
Passport services
These include passport renewals for children under 16, first-time adult passports, and replacement of a lost or stolen U.S. passport. For a child renewal, the child must be under 16.
For adult passport service, the Embassy says the applicant must be applying for a first adult passport or replacing a lost or stolen passport. It does not list regular adult renewals for this visit.
Notarial services
The listed notarial services include a passport consent form for a non-applying parent, foreign driver’s license validation, Social Security forms, and an income statement for Panamanian residency purposes.
How to Request an Appointment
Use the appointment form in the official U.S. Embassy notice. You can also open the official appointment form directly. The Embassy says the form will close when all spaces are filled. People who can be served will receive a confirmation email with instructions.
Bring the documents listed in your confirmation. Read the email carefully. The Embassy may not be able to help with a service that is not on today’s list.
Where Is the Town Hall?
The meeting is at Boquete Library. The Embassy notice includes a map link for the library. Plan extra time if you are coming from David, Alto Boquete, Volcán, or another town.
Boquete roads can be busy. Rain can also slow the trip. Arrive early if you have an appointment. Keep the confirmation email on your phone.
Who Should Read This?
This update is for U.S. citizens who live in Boquete, visit the area, or plan to move there. It is also useful for U.S. citizens in nearby mountain towns.
The town hall is not a general Panama immigration clinic. It is not a service event for citizens of Canada, the United Kingdom, Europe, or other countries. Those citizens should contact their own embassy for help.
The information is also not a replacement for emergency help. For a serious emergency, call local emergency services or the Embassy’s emergency number.
The Bottom Line
The U.S. Embassy will hold a Boquete earthquake town hall today from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Limited passport and notarial services follow, but only with a confirmed appointment.
If you are going, check the official notice before you leave. Bring your confirmation and the right documents. If you cannot attend, contact the Embassy in Panama City for future services.
